Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 7.I was a fan of
Daredevil: Born Again"s double episode drop last week. It was a great choice, as episode 5 was a detour from the main story, and episode 6 finally gave us Charlie Cox back in the Daredevil suit, as well as his first fight with Muse. Knowing how the character plays out in the comics, I have been excited by what the Marvel Cinematic Universe could do with him from the start. In episode 7, we get confirmation that Wednesday"s Hunter Doohan is the actor behind the Muse mask.
Muse is definitely the focus of this week"s episode, which makes for an intriguing two-hour arc paired with episode 6. That said, I disliked the idea of cutting the Muse story short. I wanted to see him grow as we got to season 1"s final two episodes, but it seems like the MCU TV show has something else planned for them. Besides the Muse plot and how it pulls Heather Glenn into the superhero action, I was intrigued by how episode 7 put Wilson Fisk"s life at risk at a moment when he seemed virtually untouchable.
Daredevil: Born Again Adds Muse To The Roster Of Major Deaths The Villain Had The Potential For More MCU Appearances Close Something I can"t help but notice is how this season of Daredevil: Born Again was structured. It has been thoroughly explained through behind-the-scenes reports that the show"s tone was initially closer to that of a legal procedural than that of a superhero series. I definitely believe that initial structure can be felt in a lot of points, such as how the show"s arcs are planned out. While I wanted to see Muse be a major part of the season, and in a way, he is, I also thought that episode 7 could turn out to be his last.
[Hunter] Doohan put up a magnetic performance in the role, making Bastion/Muse creepy with and without the mask.
The Punisher, White Tiger, the bank heist, and more arcs have shown that Born Again is fine with picking up stories, furthering Daredevil and Kingpin"s development through them, and then sending characters away. Yes, I know Frank Castle is slated to return, but that sentiment still stands for the rest. I had mixed reactions to how Muse"s story was handled in episode 7. Doohan put up a magnetic performance in the role, making Bastion/Muse creepy with and without the mask. I enjoyed how Heather was pulled into the action by Muse"s fascination with her.

Posts 2 I never expected that Heather would kill Muse. I"m looking forward to learning how that event affects her, as she had already revealed to Matt in a past episode that she was writing a book about masked vigilantes and their relationships with their identities. The action was perfect. I loved how Daredevil and Muse"s fight at Heather"s office played out, save for the villain"s death. It felt like another case of the MCU killing a promising villain too soon. At least, Muse"s death can further Heather"s story and the development of Fisk"s Anti-Vigilante Task Force, which takes credit for it.
Wilson Fisk Has To Deal With An Attempt To Kill Him Kingpin & Vanessa's Relationship Is Still Rocky Close Daredevil was wrapped with the Muse storyline in episode 7, directly fighting the villain and being there for his demise. As for Vincent D"Onofrio"s Wilson Fisk, the show"s other main character was also involved in the proceedings, though in a different way. I"m very much enjoying how the series shows us a different side of Kingpin. Through his role as mayor, there are bound to be certain hoops he has to jump through to do things his way. I think the Anti-Vigilante Task Force claiming it took down Muse will strengthen Fisk"s position considerably.
One of my favorite aspects of Daredevil: Born Again is how the show is making the most of Ayelet Zurer"s Vanessa...
In parallel to his dealings as mayor, Fisk has to deal with those who are not in favor of his decision to leave the criminal world. One of my favorite aspects of Daredevil: Born Again is how the show is making the most of Ayelet Zurer"s Vanessa, who took over Fisk"s criminal empire when he was away and was very successful. Fisk and Vanessa"s relationship is complicated, but it is rooted in deep love and hurt feelings. Episode 7 initially had Vanessa seemingly sending Luca to kill Fisk, but by the end, it seems like she could have alerted Kingpin.
I want to see what the answer to that situation is, as I don"t know that Fisk would be able to move forward if Vanessa really conspired to have him killed. With Daredevil back and Fisk"s Anti-Vigilante Task Force in full effect, I"m excited to see how the final two episodes of season 1 play out. Early in the series, Fisk made Matt a promise that if he became Daredevil again, all bets would be off. I think the mayor"s retaliation will be severe, and episode 7 sets that up through Fisk"s angry reaction to Daredevil"s return.
